It's Paramount for any future Brides or Grooms to understand a few key things about photography before going ahead and book one. you have to almost become a photographer yourself to look at different photographs and images and ask yourself that crucial question.
Why do these photographs appeal to me more than the others? Why do I like this photographer's work more than others I have seen?
You are primarily trying to get someone to shoot your wedding through your eyes, but with their cameras, techniques and knowledge.
So these are a few thing all brides should do research on and be clear about.
1. What Style of Photography do I want on my wedding day?
Ther are mainly 3 photography styles of capturing wedding day PhotographyPOSED, SEMI POSED & CANDID Photography.
Posed Photography is more of a traditional approach were the photographer stops the subject , poses them whenever he wants to take photographs at the wedding,it's not a organic way of shooting but you are guaranteed to get loads of shots that are posed, group shoots with family etc.
SEMI POSED Photography the Photographer can give direction or modify a subject stance or ask them to run, jump, throw confetti over the couple , walk in the distance , Kiss etc.
Candid or Documentary style Photographer is when the photographer is a silent observer just capture the wedding as it unfolds in his or hers presents. They dont modify adjust they just shoot the wedding day, and capture the beaty , people laughing, smile etc
The Reason why we decide to put this photograph up of this Ghanaian wedding that took place at Three Rivers Golf Club in Chelmsford in Essex is to elaborate on this point.
Firstly this is not the main shoot of the wedding dress, but the photograph doesn't really have a main focal point but rather the photograph is telling a story and the idea is for you to look over the photograph and draw your own conclusions about what is happening in the shot.
This is a typical Example of a Documentary candid shot.. we could of easily asked the lady to stand up,and removed her Kente material under the wedding dress, remove the bag in the background, remove the shoes in the background but those element add to telling you the story of whats happening in the photograph.
Moral of the story...Please do a lot of research on the style of photograph you want and communicate it with your photographer, and if your photographer doesn't do the kind of style of photography you like..then its time to look for a photographer that does.
At Ghana Weddings Photographers we are primarily Candid Wedding Photographer but we can do a few Semi Posed Photography for all our clients on request.
